NBTE Approves Five New courses For Yabatech

The  National Board of technical education (NBTE) has recently approved five new courses for the Yaba College of Technology, Yaba, Lagos.

The new courses include Higher National Diploma (HND) Mass communication, HND Banking and finance, HND metallurgical engineering, National Diploma (ND) Welding and fabrication and ND public administration.

In a press release by Mr Charles Oni, Yabatech’s Head of Public Relations Unit made available to newsmen in Lagos on Thursday, it quoted Dr Margaret Ladipo, Rector of the institution as saying that the management received the report with gratitude to God, while awaiting other approvals.

“Our dream of expanding access to higher education for the nation’s youths is gradually being achieved,’’ it said.

It said that with the accreditation of the programmes, the horizon had become brighter for youngsters who wanted to combine their brains with their hands to make a living.

“The era of theoretical education is passed.”

“This forms our concentration on creating industry within the system and emphasis on entrepreneurial education to ensure our products go out there to make a difference as job creators and not job seekers.”

“Even, the few that may search for jobs would have been fully baked for the challenges in their chosen industries’’ it said.

The statement commended the Tertiary Education Trust Fund,(TETFund) governing council and its members for their support in the drive to sustain YABATECH as the institution of the first choice in technological education.

It said that the college was still expecting further approvals. (NAN)

This brings a total of 30 courses in Hnd and 30 in ND pending when further approvals would be released.
