After incessant meetings with the Federal government of Nigeria, the Minister of Education, Mr Adamu Adamu declared that there has been a breakthrough in negotiations with striking University lecturers.
At a media conference in the Federal capital territory, Abuja, he said an agreement was reached between the Federal government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities.
He said on Saturday, “The strike will be called off either today or tomorrow and certainly, there won’t be a strike next week.”
We await a response from A.S.U.U.
The lecturers started a strike action on November 5, 2018. The strike which has lasted for about three months has crippled the activities in various Universities in Nigeria.
