LASU Announces Resumption Date After ASUU Strike

Sequel to the end of the strike action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), the management of Lagos State University has announced that the institution would resume on Monday, February 11, 2019.

In a statement published to its social media page, the school reiterated that the three months old ASUU strike had slowed down the school calendar and the management is keen on bringing activities back on track.

“Our semester and session have been overstretched – which explains why we all must fully work together to get the LASU academic calendar back on track. Academic activities for the ongoing session resume immediately.”

Professor Fagbohun, Vice-chancellor of the Lagos State University said the University was looking up to its staff in every department, unit and the entire workforce to provide leadership and work towards ensuring that all academic and administrative activities commence with full force immediately.

“At this time, very distinguished colleagues, LASU needs us to once again rise to the occasion and show unprecedented efficiency and effectiveness.

“The LASU story has never been about easy starts or luxurious journeys.

“Our history has been that of a university community, blessed with hard-working staff and creative students who are capable of turning even the most unlikely situations around.

“We are a community that has emerged stronger from our challenging times and we are now building a prosperous and peaceful university,” he added.

Students are expected to begin course registrations, pay school fees and prepare for forthcoming exams.
