LASU ODLRI to Commence in September
The Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo is set to begin its Open Distant Learning Research Institute (ODLRI) in September this year. A committee was set up around January to plan on the successful inauguration of the LASU Distant Learning Institute.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the LASU Distant Learning Institute has been inaugurated on May 12, 2017. While speaking at the event, the chairman of LASU ODLRI, Prof Peter Okebukola assured that the programme will be rated as “one of the best in Africa”.
The vice-chancellor of the university, Prof. Olanrewaju Fagbohun has stated that the distance learning programme will bridge the gap in the number of students being offered admission. He further stated that the inadequate physical infrastructure at the school allows the LASU to admit only 6000 students out of the over 180,000 students that apply every year.
The LASU distant learning institute will allow the Lagos state university to admit more students every year. Mr Fagbohun also states that when the ODLRI commences in September, it will be able to accommodate about 3000 to 5000 students initially.
The LASU ODLRI program will commence by September and it will enable students to carry out research at the institute. More news on the admission process would be posted soon.
