“The decision is as a result of its consistent subjection to fraudulent practices, the use of scratch cards is archaic and it is the aim of JAMB to also promote accountability in line with government’s zero tolerance for corruption. This new system will be accessible through the options of web payment, ATM issued cards (Visa, Verve and MasterCard), online quick teller, ATM payment, quick teller mobile application and Bank Branch case/card,” he further stated.

In a nutshell, this means JAMB will stop selling scratch cards for JAMB registrations, checking of results, change of course or institution and direct entry.

Instead of scratch cards, candidates will pay for the pin online through debit cards (MasterCard, Verve or Visa). When candidates successfully make payments, the pin will be sent either via SMS, email or on JAMB portal.

This means candidates will be able to purchase JAMB scratch cards for the original price as all the middlemen involved in hiking the price have been eliminated.
